Obituary of Pauline Belisle

PAULINE MADELEINE BELISLE (née Piché) February 7th, 1946 – November 2nd, 2021.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Pauline left us peacefully at the Ste-Anne Hospital the morning of November 2nd after several months of declining health. She will be forever remembered and cherished by her devoted and loving husband of 51 years Roger, daughters Nicole (Serge Balcaen), Ginette (Rogerio Furtado) and son Daniel (Nathalie Ferraton), her four precious grandchildren Gabriel, Janique, Emma and Ricardo; her siblings Camille (Louise), Jean (Thérèse), Jeannette Roy (Paul) and Claudette Rusywick, her brothers and sisters-in-law Guy and Bernice Belisle, Claude and Doreen Belisle, Viateur and Laura Belisle, Sister Rose-Aimée Belisle RNDM, Laurence Postnicks and Caroline Tétrault. She was predeceased by her parents Gaspard and Marcelle Piché, brothers Laurent and Aimé Piché, sisters Madeleine Poirier and Fernande Robidoux.

Pauline grew up in Fannystelle, the eighth of nine children, on the family farm. There, she was surrounded by a large, extended family of Piché, Arnal and Painchaud relatives. Mom loved going to school and excelled from a very young age. It is of no surprise that at age 18, she decided to pursue her teaching certificate and started her career in Elie, Manitoba. It just so happened that a young man by the name of Roger from that town would be set up on a blind date by her brother Jean and Roger’s brother Claude. The rest as they say is history. Mom and Dad married in 1970 and went on to raise 3 children whom they cared for and loved deeply. After taking 13 years off to raise her young family, Mom went back to work in the St-Vital School Division where she taught French Immersion to students in grade 4-6 for 25 years before retiring in 2003. Madame Belisle was known to her students as organized, fun, strict and traditional. She loved teaching so much that when she retired, she returned to substitute teach in the DSFM for another 10 years.

With the arrival of their grandchildren, Mom and Dad babysat Gaby and Janique often providing only the type of love grandparents can give. They had another chance 9 years later, when Emma and Ricardo were born in 2012. Mémère was so proud of her grandchildren and loved to hear about their accomplishments.

Mom and Dad celebrated 50 years of marriage in July of 2020. We are so thankful that Mom’s health allowed us to have a memorable family gathering to celebrate this milestone. They were known as a couple who were always seen together. Dad’s devotion to Mom, especially during the last 5 years, was very appreciated by her.

Mom, nous sommes soulagés que tu puisses maintenant te reposer en paix. Merci pour tout ce que tu as fait pour nous. Nous t’aimerons pour toujours.
