Deepest condolences to Joyce and family for the passing of Cub! Vassar lost a patriarch! Cub was the kind of guy who would always be there to help anyone. Never ask for anything but “How can I help?”.He was a dedicated worker from early morning until days end! Conscientious and reliable. His work ethic was unmatched! We truly appreciated him when he worked for us all those years! His first love was definitely Joyce and second was baseball! Pitching mound was his favourite spot but he he would shine in any position on the baseball field. I’m sure that baseball glove and ball were never very far from sight! Last Fall, he stopped by the Cottage and he started reminiscing about old times and with his little giggle said: “We sure had some good games and great times in those baseball days”. Well Cub you are now amongst the Big Stars celebrating in the Greatest Hall of Fame where you belong where there is no pain, no cane and you can soar like an eagle from base to base making home runs and of course pitching out everyone! RIP Buzz and Marguerite Cote.

So sad to hear of Cub's passing. Another of the 'good old' Vassar guys to leave our community.
I met Cub at the garbage dump last summer after the news of Lynn's sickness had come out and with tears in his eyes he said to me, "It hurts me so bad to learn that Lynn has this awful sickness!". What a great guy! I think that there had to be something wrong with anyone that couldn't get along with Cub! The last time I saw Cub I reminisced with him about the old days playing baseball when he would use the pick off sign to get the runner at second base. That was a wiggle of the brim of the baseball cap. We put many a base runners down at second with that sign and a usually accurate throw from Cub right over the bag. I also told him that I had a dream of him and me trying out for the Oakland A's and he just laughed and asked, "Did we make it?". A lot of good memories with him. I am writing this with a heavy heart for a friend that I will forever miss but at the same time knowing that he and some other ball players that come to mind are up in that happy place getting ball games going and playing to their hearts content. My most sincere condolences to Joyce, the kids, and the rest of the family and friends. Larry Prasek
