Dear Viola and family, I realize many years have gone by since Winston and I (Lottie) graduated from Landmark Collegiate the same year and we have met only a few times since. I do remember Winston as a kind, friendly gentlemanly student. We send you our sincere condolences and the assurance of prayer. What a consolation that the God whom Winston served so faithfully is also there to be your comfort. May you all feel God's comforting presence. Lottie and Eugene Quasso>

Dear Penner Family. Mr Penner had a smile and genuine kindness that was contagious! He was a dear friend to my dad. I think Frank loved Winston because he could trust him. He was a man of integrity. (Something my dad had not known, growing up). It always warmed my heart when they spent time together.
I imagine you will miss Mr Penner deeply. Peace to all of you as you journey on. ❤️

Dear Auntie Viola & family,
We are so sad for you all, and we pray you will feel our Heavenly Father’s arms around you and holding you up!
We know he will be touring the Holy City and his loved ones will be welcoming him there. He has seen Jesus!
“Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; Thy rod & thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me, in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
We are so thankful for his many gifts & talents and how he made such an impression on all of us on a spiritual level. He was such a blessing to us when he visited us during his flood relief and restoration work in High River in 2016. It was definitely God’s timing as we were going through some difficult times, Allan had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Our visits & prayer times with him were so encouraging.
We had such a picturesque view from our table this morning with the most beautiful hoar frost! I was reminded of Uncle Winston’s talents in painting and thought it was a “wink from God” to send us such a beautiful picture, that God, the master painter sent us on this winter day, the day after Winston entered the gates of heaven!

Dear Penner Family,
Winston is a champion in life and death. He did not lose because he trusted God to carry him. i remember once being at Winston and Viola's many years ago and while we were there the sewer pump was losing its prime over and over. Winston and I put our hands on that pump and prayed that God would help it to work as we primed it again. It did! That is the way Winston lived. A gentle hand to seek God's mercy for a person or situation. May you all find your rest in God's loving kindness as you grieve and remember.

Whenever I hear the words from Ephesians "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church, now and forever, Amen" it is Pastor Winston's voice that I hear ringing in my ears. The same is true of any of those benedictions. I see his arms raised above the congregation, I hear his specific intonation, stride and emphasis, and I see that twinkle in his eye. Pastor, thank you for teaching me through my growing years, for baptizing me and for counselling and performing my marriage. We know it was not always easy to do what you did, but God's grace was sufficient for you, and his power was made perfect in your weakness. Race well run Pastor.

Linda and I are profoundly grateful that our daughter, Dawn, by marrying Andrew, brought us into the constellation of the Penner family. Winston so impressed us with the bike ride that he and Viola made across Canada, and we observed with admiration his fine carpentry skills as he built a deck. Winston and Viola share grandchildren with us and make the world a better place. He is now with God in his next life.
