Peacefully, with family by her side, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Margaret Kihn, passed away at Bethesda Place on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the age of 94.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughters: Valerie (Bruce) Martin, Marlys (Boyd) Borkowsky and Shauna (Ron) Schellenberg; her sons: Colin (Sandra) and Mark (Candice); and by her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: Erin (Shawn) Sadler, & Hailey; Troy (Charissa) Martin, Charles & Amelia; Dana (Stephane) Saindon & Brexton; Chloe Kihn, Brett Kihn, Chelsey (Jayme) Gunderson & Silas; Bailey (Doug) McLachlan, Kenzie & Sydney; Amy Borkowsky, Aryelle (Tyler) Sylvester & Jett; Breanne (Bryan) Nichol, Harlowe & Huxton;  and Carter Schellenberg.

She was predeceased by her 11 siblings.

Mom grew up on the farm in Rosetown and finished school at grade eight. She had many jobs that included cleaning homes, nanny, and store clerk at PB Reimer & Sons in Steinbach. She met the love of her life, Albert, while walking home from work. This engaging young man, who had noticed her before, stopped to ask if she would like a ride home. It took some persuading, but Albert was persistent in his pursuit and that perseverance finally paid off. They dated for four years and were married on September 26, 1953.

Mom was a wonderful cook, homemaker and was very hospitable. Sunday dinners, special occasions and holiday meals were her way of showing love to her family. Her grandchildren loved visiting and they knew she would make them their favorite meals.

Some of Mom’s passions included gardening, crafting, reading, puzzling, crochet and sewing. She always planted a large garden and her freezers and pantry were well stocked with preserves and jellies. She was known for making the best pickles.

Mom had a strong, unwavering faith and kept her family covered in prayer. Mom and dad were members at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and were actively involved for as long as they could be. They cared deeply for their family and encouraged us on our faith journeys.

Thank you to Pastor Terry Gudmundson and Pastor Al Maier for their visits and spiritual guidance.

We would like to express our thanks and appreciation for all the prayers, words of encouragement, cards and expressions of sympathy from family and friends. A special thank you to the staff at Bethesda Place and Dr. Rozbacher for the kind and compassionate care you showed to our mother. It was truly appreciated.
