Hi Betty and family,
Sorry to hear about Henry’s passing, our condolences go out to you. We heard from my sister Lena Friesen formerly Lena Esau.
We remember Henry very much from Crestview church when we lived in Winnipeg..When I got to know Frank Esau at 15 years old I was still on a bicycle and I would bike to Sears from Home street to go see Henry for advice or service for my Bicycle needs, usually for chain oil or how to fix my wheel bearings then later with my car him telling me “you need a wheel alignment”. He always knew what it needed.
May God bless you all in the days ahead as we wait for us all to be together again..
I can hear Henry now saying hello to John, Herman and many others I’m sure!

I worked with Henry at Sears. I was a young mechanic then and he had the patience with me to teach me so many things. He was a great influence to me in his determination and skills. Now it is my turn to teach younger mechanics, and over the years I have often reflected on my time at Sears with him. Thanks Henry. My condolences to the family.

Henry and I went on a fishing trip to Lake St George at the far north end of #6 highway, all our gear consisted of was my two hooks and a homemade 12 foot flat bottom boat, Henry had borrowed a complete fishing box from cousin Herman Esau, we left early in the morning to get in a goods days fishing, when we got there about mid morning the winds and the waves were too high for man or beast but we had fishing on our minds, we launched the boat in the shelter of a large area of Bull Rushes, once out in the open the wind would lift our boat and slam in back down to the point of us thinking that this boat is going to spilt wide open, we headed back for shore when we realized we had to buck this strong headwind to get back to the car, with a lot of gardian angels watching over us. Homeward bound after sunset we get almost back to Winnipeg when Henry realized we had forgot to bring back Hermans tackle, so turn around back to the lake we go, very good for us the night security man had seen that we forgot the tackle that he knew we would be back for, get home after midnight....nope, not a single fish to show ..
