It is with great love and deep sadness we announce the passing of our Wife, Mom, Grandma, Nana, Daughter, Sister, and Friend, Brenda Dyck nee Schurko, after a valiant and courageous battle.  She succumbed to ovarian cancer at the age of 62, on Sunday, June 12, 2022. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and many friends.

Left to cherish Brenda’s memory are her husband of 42 years Corney Dyck; children: Joseph Dyck (spouse Phaedra Taiarol, children - Ryker and Mallory); Chauncey Dyck (spouse Christine, children - Austin, Brayden, and Dexter); Catherine Dyck; Lisa Rempel (spouse Patrick, children – Madison and Jackson); parents Marvin and Joyce (nee Pott) Schurko; siblings Calvin (Dianne) Schurko; Randall (Marlene) Schurko; Sandra Pappel;  in-laws Henry Dyck; Agatha (Gerald) Thiessen; David (Margaret) Dyck; Abram (Maria) Dyck; Ann (Frank) Doerksen; Danielle Dyck (Darryl Leather); Edith (Sheldon) Krasniuk; along with many special nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Brenda was predeceased by her grandparents Michael and Helen (nee Zembik) Schurko; Henry and Ada (nee Larson) Pott; parents-in-law Gerhard and Helena (nee Thiessen) Dyck; grandson Carter Dyck; and brother-in-law Glen Pappel.

Brenda was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on August 26, 1959. Brenda attended school in Fisher Branch, Manitoba until Grade 5 (1970), after which her family made the move to Roseau River.  Brenda then attended Shevchenko School in Vita for Grades 6 to 12, graduating in 1977.  This is where she met Corney in Grade 6 and they later started dating.  Brenda studied Biological Technologies at Red River College in Winnipeg, receiving her diploma in 1980. Brenda and Corney married on March 8, 1980, and started their family of four children.  In the fall of 1981, they moved to Ridgeville, where Corney was a hired hand and Brenda made meals for Loeppky Brothers, while also raising their children.  In the fall of 1988, they bought a farm in Roseau River, where they raised their children and a herd of cattle, and where Corney still resides.

Brenda worked for Bill’s Greenhouse in Winnipeg transplanting plants for a few springs. Then, in 1990, she milked cows at Crikside Farms in Woodmore, where she worked until the spring of 2000. At that point, she started her own business, Cobren Farms Greenhouse, where she sold bedding plants, participated in the farmer’s market in Vita, and most recently ran a harvest share. Brenda ran Cobren Farms Greenhouse until the fall of 2019 when she became ill, but she still was able to continue with her harvest share until 2021.

Throughout these years of raising a family and running a business, Brenda also made time to volunteer with 4-H, Vita Horticultural Society, Roseau River Park Board, and Woodmore Womens Institute. She was a valued member and contributed significant time and effort to her local community groups.

Donations in memory of Brenda may be made to either the Manitoba 4-H Endowment Fund (online https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/manitoba-4-h-council/ or cheques can be made to the Endowment Fund and mailed to Manitoba 4-H Council Inc., 1129 Queens Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 1L9) or the Roseau River Park (cheques can be mailed to P.O.
