It is with great sadness that we share that Helen Goschke, age 71, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 7, 2022, in her home.

Helen was born on January 18, 1951, in Santa Clara, Mexico, to Elizabeth Reimer and Bernhard Reimer, moving to Canada in 1952.

Helen was predeceased by her mom and dad as well as her four brothers: Elvin, Ben, Joe and Abe.

She is survived by her daughter Karen (Erik), sons: Greg and Jeremy (Morghan); and two grandchildren Audrey and Asher.

Helen was a loving mother, aunt, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom worked for MTS for 25+ years, initially as a part time telephone operator and ending her career as a Collections Agent. Most people would have considered that profession to be very challenging, however Mom loved and took pride in it. She enjoyed having the ability to work and connect with people and problem solve with them to resolve their hardships. She was greatly satisfied when a challenging call resulted in a happy customer. Mom retired from MTS in 2012.

Helen had a zest for life and a love of cats, gardening, crocheting and travel. Her greatest pride and joy, along with her children, were her grandchildren, Mom was meant to be a Grandma! When she was with Audrey and Asher she was in her glory; they brought so much love and light into her world and we are grateful for the time she had with them.

Mom was a fighter and won her battle with breast cancer in the 1990’s. In the last several years she struggled with various health complications and in 2021 she was able to start home dialysis which greatly improved her quality of life. Dialysis took an endless amount of time and energy which she embraced with courage, grace and determination.

We would like to thank the unnamed neighbour who called 911, the paramedics and the health care professionals for their efforts and kindness in mom’s final moments. There are no words to describe the gratitude we feel for the endless support our friends and family are offering during this difficult time.

Helen loved with her whole heart; she will be forever missed. We love you Mom.
