Obituary of Henry Kehler

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you,

Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”                                                                                                                                                                                                           Isaiah 41:10

On Friday, August 19, 2022, surrounded by his family, Henry D Kehler entered his eternal Home and is now forever rejoicing in the presence of Jesus.

Henry will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Susan; his children, grandchildren and great grandchild; Bill and wife Rose (Destiny, Cole, and Spencer), Nancy and husband Russ Sullivan (Chelsea and husband Michael Challinor (Madelyn), Drew and wife Jeanna, and Clark), Rose and husband Leroy Driedger (Dylan and Madison); and extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by parents George and Katharina Kehler; brothers George and wife Tina, John and wife Anne, Abe and wife Susan; and granddaughter Amberly Rose Sullivan.

Henry was born in 1935 to George and Katharina Kehler in Randolph, MB. His school days were spent at the Moray School.  In 1959 he married the love of his life, Susan Friesen.  They began their married life on the family farm, farming together with his father.  Farming led him into a partnership with his brother Abe and they began A & H Dairy Farms.  He also worked as a Dairy Herd Improvement technician, a school bus driver, a carpenter, had a cleaning business and delivered auto parts until he retired at age 79. No matter what job he held, Henry would start his day with a smile and declare “I love my job!”

Greater than his love for work was his love for the Lord and his family.  Henry accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour at a young age and throughout his life he faithfully reminded his family of the many precious promises found in God’s Word. He willingly served in the church in various capacities. Henry & Susan loved doing life together, whether working side by side or seeing different parts of the world in Henry’s love for travel.  He was never too busy to spend time with his family and friends.  Even after a hard day’s work, winters found him and his family gathered around a jigsaw puzzle or a game of monopoly; and in summertime playing ball in the backyard, going for bike rides, or going out for ice cream. Henry didn’t care much for coffee, but he loved “Going for Coffee” with his friends.

Henry will be dearly missed, but his family rejoices in knowing he is Home with his Saviour and free from his suffering.  From his hospital bed, the last rich promise he left with his family was Isaiah 41:10.

The family would like to say a big “thank you” to the medical staff at the St Pierre Hospital who so lovingly cared for Henry until the end.
