Obituary of Carmelle Friesen
Carmelle Renee Friesen (née Wiens), age 46, of Grunthal, Manitoba, went to her heavenly home after a courageous battle with cancer, peacefully surrounded by her immediate family on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022.
She is lovingly remembered by her most favourite person in the world; Matthew Friesen; their children, Tanner (Jordana), Declyn, Carver and Hadleigh; her parents Harvey and Brenda Wiens; sisters Charlotte (Charlton), Owen, and Colton Wiebe, Shelly (Chris), Reanna, and Tyrell Friesen; Diedrich and Elizabeth, the whole Friesen family, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Carmelle grew up in Mitchell, Manitoba, with her beloved parents and two sisters. She played many sports growing up including ringette and baseball. She enjoyed a long list of hobbies, trying her hand at knitting, crocheting, and playing the banjo to name a few.
Becoming a mom and wife was her greatest joy. She married Mat, the love of her life, on November 22, 2002, and moved to Grunthal, Manitoba. With almost 20 years of marriage, Mat and Carmelle built a beautiful life together as they raised their four children at the family farm. The family enjoyed many camping trips to Warren, Minnesota, hockey tournaments, gymnastics competitions, motocross races, baseball, and ringette games. Evening bonfires were very important to her, along with NASCAR races, her attempts at hunting, and the countless memories made playing skip-bo and card games. If you won against her, you better quickly put your shoes on and exit the house. Knowing Carmelle, you knew her contagious laughter, her fierce stubbornness, and the way she was all in for everything she believed in.
Carmelle had a deep faith in the Lord. Her dedication was inspiring to all those around her. She enjoyed her weekly bible study groups, reading scripture, Sundays at church, and sharing the Lord’s word.
Carmelle was a Human Resource Professional in the corporate world, with many beloved co-workers. Later in life, she went back to school to complete a passion of hers and became a doula. She loved service work, including volunteer initiatives, fundraisers and was on many boards over the years.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. at Grunthal Bergthaler Church, Grunthal, Manitoba, with the viewing prior to the service starting at 6:00 p.m.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations in memory of Carmelle Friesen may be made to H.E.A.R.T (Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team).
Special thanks to Dr. A Barnard for her compassion, Pat Wiebe, Kerry Funk and Michelle Novak, and her family and friends that walked alongside her.
