Obituary of Shirley Ann Peters

It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mom passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB, with her family by her side.

She is survived by her son Jason (Shannon), daughter Michele (Jeff), granddaughter Samantha and great-grandson Jayden, she is also survived by her brother Alan.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Norm, parents John & Agnes Tarasenco, brother Larry and sister Ginny.

Shirl was born in Steinbach and lived there most of her life, other than a few years in Winnipeg before marrying the love of her life Norm in September 1965.

Mom made her living as an accountant for over 60 years. Her love of numbers and people had her volunteering with several different organizations, making many friends along the way.

Mom loved the outdoors and could often be found puttering in her garden and tending to her many flowers or enjoying a book in the sunshine. Many summer evenings were spent playing games with her family in the gazebo. She took great pleasure in whooping their butts. Camping with the family was one of Mom’s favourite things to do in the summer. Baking with granddaughter Samantha and later great-grandson Jayden, filled Mom’s heart with joy.

We want to thank the wonderful staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre. We also want to thank the doctors and especially the amazing nursing staff that so lovingly took care of mom in her final days.

The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
