Obituary of Marianne Hoshowski

We mourn the passing of Marianne Yvonne Hoshowski (nee Bezditny) on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the Bethesda Regional Health Center, Steinbach, MB, at the age of 66.

Marianne will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Corey, and his wife, Sheryl, as well as by numerous extended family and many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, William & Mary Bezditny; her brother, Paul; her son, Matthew; her husband, Walter; as well as her special uncle and aunt, John & Helen Zulak.

Marianne was born on July 7, 1956, and grew up in Pansy, Manitoba. She married Walter on August 31, 1974. After living in Winnipeg and Steinbach, they moved to a country property 12 miles south of Steinbach. This is where they raised their two sons and Marianne lived there till December 31, 2022, the day she was hospitalized due to strokes.

Marianne was a woman of small stature with a huge personality. She was feisty, humorous and quick witted, which carried her through many difficult times and brightened many people's days. She was also an amazing cook and many people benefitted from her generosity, either by eating at her table or by being gifted with her delicious perogies and cabbage rolls. She knew how to make all the traditional Ukrainian dishes and she did it well.

Marianne also loved picking mushrooms and blueberries. A highlight for her was when Corey would join her to pick spring mushrooms. For many years Walter & Marianne travelled to NASCAR races all over the U.S.A. Their most special trip was when Corey & Sheryl accompanied them to a race in Las Vegas. After Walter passed away, Marianne went to the race in Las Vegas by herself - twice.

Two of Marianne's other passions were reading and watching major league baseball games. She followed all of the teams and had her favorites. She knew facts and stats about an amazing number of baseball players and NASCAR drivers.

Over the years, Marianne worked at MTS, Phyllis's Catering, H & R Block and in dietary at the Bethesda Regional Health Center. Through these jobs she got to know a lot of people and she touched many lives.

Marianne had a strong faith in God. She enjoyed being involved at Crossview Church. We take comfort in knowing that she has gone to her heavenly home and that we will see her again. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the medical staff at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Center, the Ste. Anne Hospital and the Bethesda Regional Health Center in Steinbach, for their care and compassion, with special thanks to the nurses that were on duty the night of Marianne's passing.

Prayers will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel Steinbach, MB.
