Obituary of Florence Pankratz

Florence Anne Pankratz (Isaac) passed away peacefully at the age of 85 at her home in Steinbach on Sunday, April 23, 2023. 

Florence was born in Kleefeld, Manitoba on September 3, 1937. She was the youngest of four children. Florence’s father passed away when she was 3 months old. Her family remained in Kleefeld until Florence met the love of her life, Vern. 

Florence made a living by working as a telephone operator and bank teller. Eventually mom gave up her position at the bank to concentrate on raising her family. Flo also assisted with bookkeeping for her and Vern’s entrepreneurial ventures.

Florence loved to entertain; celebrating holidays, which were important to her, and hosting various gatherings with friends and family. The Pankratz house was frequently alive with the sound of friends and family telling jokes and having fun. Some of the best times were spent at the cabin at Falcon Lake in the last four summers enjoying many sunsets and time with her children and granddaughters.

Left to cherish her memory are children Ken Pankratz (Marilyn Pankratz), Lynelle Fender (Randy Fender), Jason Pankratz (Tiffany Pankratz), grandchildren Alayna, Danae, Sydney, Hanna, and Ruby. She is also survived by one brother Ed Isaac (Elsie), brother-in-law Helmut Pankratz (Delores) sisters-in-law Donna and Elvira Enns and many nephews and nieces.

Florence was predeceased by her husband Vern (2012), parents Abram and Anna, and brothers Bill and Robert.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, with interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
