Obituary of Bertha Fuchs

Peacefully on April 9, 2007 with her family by her side our beloved Mom, Nana and great grandma Bertha Fuchs (nee Mazinke), passed away at Bethesda Place after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s. Mom was born to Gustav and Emelia Mazinke on November 23, 1921 in the Rosenfeld, MB area. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. John’s Lutheran Church. On December 14, 1945 she married our dad Herman Fuchs. Together they farmed in the Randolph area till 1966 when they moved to Steinbach where she resided till her passing. She was an elegant lady who loved church, her garden and her flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. We all enjoyed her lovely baking. Bertha will be missed by daughter Gwen and her husband Edwood Oswald and son Eldon and his wife Linda. Also cherishing her memory are grandchildren and great- grandchildren Jason and Shauna Oswald (Brandi and Jordie), Mark and Laura Oswald (Cole and Hailey), Brent and Kirsty Oswald, Matt Fuchs (fiancée Candace Peters), Scott Fuchs (special friend Michelle Juarez) and Dolly Fuchs (special friend Matt Doerksen). Also surviving her are sister and brother-in-law Dora and Henry Fuchs, sister-in-law Romelda Fuchs and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Herman in 1978, her parents and siblings Delma, Lydia, Theresa, Archie and three brothers in infancy. Pallbearers will be Jason Oswald, Mark Oswald, Brent Oswald, Matt Fuchs, Scott Fuchs and Matt Doerksen. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Hwy #12 south. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethesda Hospital, the Rehab and Bethesda Place for the excellent care extended to our Mom in her final weeks and days. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bertha may be made to the Bethesda Foundation, Box 939, Steinbach, MB R5G 1A3
