Linda Tremere (nee Reimer), 83 years of Steinbach, MB passed away at her residence on March 1, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband, Hilson in 2003, four sisters and five brothers. She is survived by her brother John Reimer and three sisters, Katherine Jones, Martha Schellenberg and Elma Wiebe, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, and their families. Linda was born on April 18, 1927 to Isaac W. and Margaretha Reimer of Steinbach. She left home at age 20 to work various jobs, ending up at Ray-O-Vac in Winnipeg for twelve years before marrying Hilson and moving to the farm near Ormiston, SK. They farmed together for thirteen years and in her words, “I really enjoyed farm life...I always named my cows, they may have looked the same to a stranger but I knew each one and could easily tell them apart.” After selling the farm in 1978 they retired to Moose Jaw where they became part of the 1st Baptist Church congregation. Linda faithfully ministered to Hilson through his years at Providence nursing home. Some years after Hilson's death, Linda moved to Steinbach to be closer to family. Linda loved to travel and had been to 50 countries and all the continents except Antarctica. She and Hilson took many road trips across North America and to P.E.I. where Hilson's family was from. Her final journey is now to higher ground: Lord, lift me up and let me stand, By faith, on Heaven's table land. A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground. Viewing will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Sunday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service for Linda Tremere will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a ministry/charity of one's choice.
