Abram (Abe) Goertzen passed away peacefully at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach March 7, 2011. He is survived by his wife Susanna Belle (Sue) (nee Enns); Brian (Martha) and two children, Patricia (Norbert) Pelland and three children, Randy (Linda) and three children, Anita (Bob) Esau and three children, Glenn (Audrey) and four children, daughter in-law Thelma (Walter) and six children, Marcella (Travis) Friesen and two children, Eric (Erna) and four children; nine great grandchildren along with three sisters and two brothers. He was predeceased by his parents, his son Wyatt in 2002 and one brother. Dad was a jack-of-all trades and a master of many. He also was a man of strong morals and taught us great work ethics. His heart was truly in farming and to supplement the farm, he drove long distance for Penner International for approximately 25 years. Unfortunately, due to health issues, he retired from Penner's in 1995. He continued to hobby farm until they moved to Steinbach in 2005. When failing health was sometimes overwhelming, he still always found a way to make you smile by cracking a joke or just being a little crazy. We miss you, Dad. Looking forward to seeing you in Heaven. The family thanks the Bethesda staff and emergency personnel for Dad's care during the last days and hours of his life. Viewing service will be held Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach. The funeral service will be held at Christian Fellowship Church, 417 Hanover, Steinbach on Friday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.
