Annie was born at Rosenort, Manitoba, to Peter J. and Anna Loewen on May 10, 1916. She attended school in the Rosenort area, and was baptized and received into membership of the Kleingemeinde Church as a young woman. Annie married John Rempel on September 25, 1938. They lived in Rosenort at first and then purchased a farm in Pleasant Valley. In 1959 they moved with their family of four children, west to Butler, Manitoba. Butler View Farm overlooked the Pipestone Valley and Creek. She enjoyed the years here, especially the outdoors; working in the garden or watching the deer and wild geese. Annie transferred her church membership to the Kola EMC soon after their move. After her husband passed away in 1989, she moved to Winnipeg; and then to Parkview Place in Steinbach. Annie passed away at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, on March 7, 2011, at the age of 94 years. Annie is survived by her children: Norman (Emily) Rempel; Annie Allen; Raymond (Marlene) Rempel; and her son-in-law Denver (Mary) Plett; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister: Lena (Henry) Loewen; and two sisters-in-law: Helen Loewen and Mary Loewen. She was predeceased by her parents; stepmother Aganetha Loewen; her husband John and her daughter, Viola Plett. Also predeceasing her were her sisters and brothers: Mary (Henry) Friesen; Elizabeth (Jacob) Reimer; Jake (Helen) Loewen; Peter (Margaret) Loewen; Isaac (Mary) Loewen; John (Lena) Loewen; Cornie (Elizabeth) Loewen; and Abe Loewen. We, as a family, consider ourselves blessed to have had her love, wisdom and laughter in our lives. We will always remember and miss her, but we have the assurance that we will see her again. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, March 9 at7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. also at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Interment will be Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Kola Cemetery.
