Edna Plett, age 68, of Ridgewood, MB passed away peacefully at her home and surrounded by her family. After a courageous battle with cancer, mom went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013. Edna will be sadly missed by her loving husband Jake of 45 years, and their five children, Corey (Ivy), Jason (Irene), Sandra, Anthony (Becki) and Melissa (Keven), and five grandchildren (Dylan, Aryn, Jacob, Corey and Adrian); five sisters, three brothers and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers. Mom’s love for family and adventure drew her to travel and visit her kids and grand kids often in Calgary, Mexico and Montreal, as well as locally. She loved to camp and spend time in the yard. She also upheld a sense of tradition with her baking and cooking, and enjoyed making any occasion into a big, family event. Mom prayed faithfully for her family, and her greatest concern was the spiritually well-being of her kids and grand kids. The family would like to thank the staff, doctors and nurses at Calgary, Winnipeg and Bethesda CancerCare for their wonderful care and compassion. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ridgewood Church with interment at the church cemetery.
