Obituary of Bernhard H. Voth

Following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s disease, Ben Voth passed away peacefully on October 8, 2013 at the Grunthal Menno Home. He will always be lovingly remembered by his wife of 72 years, Agatha (nee Sawatzky) and their family: three daughters, Linda, Edna and Elma (Ike); five sons, Ben (Mary), Alvin (Martha), Arnie, Ron and Randy and their families. He was predeceased by one son, John Voth; two daughters-in-law, Helen Voth and Sandra Voth; two sons-in-law, Jake Enns and Leonard Braun and three grandsons, Bruce Voth, Pernell Voth and Baby Enns. Ben was born on August 19, 1920 to Peter and Susanna Voth living in Lowe Farm, MB. He was the 12th child in a family of 13. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings. He married Agatha Sawatzky on October 20, 1940. During their marriage he had many different jobs and many moves, living in many different locations in Manitoba. Then in 1948 he started working for Pile Foundation, a construction company out of Winnipeg which took him away from home for long periods of time. That left Mom to care for the home and growing family on her own. After 25 years with Pile Foundation he retired and they lived in the Grunthal area. The last six years he was a resident of the Grunthal Menno Home. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at the Menno Home for their care and compassion shown to Dad during his stay there. The funeral service will be Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grunthal Bergthaler Mennonite Church, Grunthal, Manitoba with interment to follow at the Grunthal Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional to follow at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Menno Home Foundation, Box 280, Grunthal, MB R0A 0R0
