Obituary of Judith Martens

Sister Judith Martens peacefully passed to her eternal home on December 9, 2013. She was preceded in death by her father Johan Dyck. She is survived by her husband Neil Martens, their five children: Eva, David (Julia), Mary, Jake and Anita; four grandchildren, mother Helena Dyck, five sisters, five brothers, and a host of family, friends, and loved ones. Sister Martens, daughter of John and Helena Dyck, was born on November 15, 1958 in Chihuahua, Mexico. She was married to Neil Martens on November 20, 1977 in Barton Creek, Belize. She became one of God’s children, and therefore He led her to His one true fold, the Church of God, in 1999, where she learned of and experienced entire sanctification. She was baptized by immersion on June 12, 2005. Faithful and steady in daily living, Sister Martens was not one to complain about hardships. She often admonished her children to “look on the bright side.” She sang much on her sickbed. Songs such as “What A Day That Will Be When My Jesus I Shall See,” “All The Way My Saviour Leads Me,” and “Gott Ist Die Liebe,” were her choice songs in her times of suffering. She requested Psalm 23 to be read aloud to her as she “walked through the valley of the shadow of death.” She will be greatly missed by her family, who will always remember her for putting their needs before her own, and also by many saints, friends, and loved ones. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Church of God Meeting House, Pansy, Manitoba. Viewing also at the Meeting House prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of God Meeting House, Pansy, Manitoba. Interment to follow at The Church of God Cemetery.
