On Saturday, April 2, 2011 Maria (Mary) Hildebrandt peacefully passed away at the age of 101 years at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, Manitoba. Mary was born on December 30, 1909 in Hague, Saskatchewan. She was the second child born to Jacob and Aganetha Guenter. As a young adult, Mary was baptized in the Mennonite Bergthaler Church. Mom and Dad became acquainted as pen pals and on July 7, 1946 they were married in Parkerview, SK. They lived briefly in Saskatchewan and British Columbia before settling down on the family farm near Landmark, MB. Mary is survived by one son, David (Elfrieda) Hildebrandt of Landmark, MB, three daughters: Martie (Jim) Wiebe of Sonningdale, SK, Hildie (Brian) Swannie of Abbotsford, BC, and Lydia (Randy) Wolgemuth of Steinbach, MB, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three sisters and two sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1973, one granddaughter in infancy, five brothers and two sisters. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Rest Haven staff, volunteers and doctors for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with viewing before the service. Interment at the Heritage Cemetery in Niverville.
