Obituary of Mary Enns

Our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, has finished the course that God designed for her 83 years ago. She is, at this very moment and for all eternity, enjoying a reunion with Dad, and daughter Edna. We have it on good authority that all the angels of heaven are rejoicing with her. Last Friday her Lord and Savior said to her, “come home, my child, your quilts are all finished, your memory will never fail you again, and you won’t hurt anymore”. Mom left the building at 6:15 p.m. on July 25, 2008 surrounded by a few family members, singing “Gott ist die Liebe”. She began navigating the course 83 years ago on April 27, 1925 with a lusty cry of “heads up world, here I come”. Her entry point was at the Rosenheim school district, near Altona, Manitoba and she staggered across the finish line at Bethesda Place in Steinbach. She and Dad laboured for many years on the farm at Lowe Farm, moved to Winnipeg in 1971, to Landmark in 1978, and finally to Steinbach in 1990 after Dad passed away. Remaining to grieve our loss… and rejoice in her newfound home is a large family. These include three children born to her, two chosen children, and all their families. They are Art (Dianne), Linda (Ed Wall), Janice (Jerry Froese), Vince, Becky, and Art (Ann) Wiebe, son in law. Fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren are also part of the Enns family. Also grieving the loss of their sister are three brothers and three sisters. These are Abe, Peter, Katherine, Margaret, Aron, and Eleanor. Preceding her in death were her husband Henry, daughter Edna, her parents John and Sarah Toews, and her siblings, Gertrude, Walter, and Lambert. The family expresses sincere appreciation for the compassionate and professional care she received from home care specialists, Cedarwood staff, Bethesda Place staff, and Dr. Kaethler. The funeral service for Mary Enns (NEE Toews) will be held Tuesday, 2pm at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. with at devotional at 7:30 p.m. and prior to the service. If friends so desire donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive; Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9
