PETER BERGEN Peter Bergen went to be with his Lord and Saviour Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 11:35 p.m. at the Bethesda Hospital. Dad was born on October 28, 1921. He was baptized upon confession of his faith in Jesus Christ and received as a member in Christ Church in 1943. Dad married mom, his first wife Anna Peters on August 29, 1943 in Grunthal Manitoba. Our mother went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2003. Then on July 8, 2007 dad married Helen Derksen and God blessed them with 1 year and 19 days of happy marriage. Dad is survived by his wife Helen, three daughters: Anna (Peter) Kehler from Paraguay, Helen (Jake) Neufeld from Mitchell, Rosella Hildebrandt from Paraguay and one son Len (Arlene) Bergen from Mitchell as well as 28 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Anna (Jake) Hiebert of Steinbach and one brother Henry (Hilda) Bergen of Steinbach. Dad is also survived by 11 stepchildren, numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by our mom, his first wife Anna, two daughters Esther and Anna, his parents Abraham and Maria Bergen, five brothers, one sister, one son-in-law and one great grandson. The family would like to thank you for all your prayers, support and encouragement that you have given us during Dad’s illness. It was appreciated more than you know. Thank you to Pastor Henry Friesen for his kind words and encouragement while he visited dad as well as for his sermon at the church and to Pastor Harry Bergen for his service at the viewing. We would also like to thank the staff at Bethesda Hospital, Birchwood Funeral Chapel and the ladies from the Steinbach Sommerfeld Church. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Wednesday, July 30 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 pm. At the Grunthal Bergthaler Church with interment at the Grunthal Cemetery.
