On Monday, April 11, 2011, after a brief illness, Peter B Funk, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 73 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB. Dad is survived by his wife Anne (Neufeld), two sons Irvin (Marilyn) Funk and Lorne (Edna) Funk, two daughters Audra (Steven) Lepp and Phyllis (Corey) Penner and their families. He was predeceased by his three sons in infancy and two brothers. He was also survived by three sisters and six brothers. Dad was born on September 16, 1937 in R.M. of De Salaberry. He was baptized in April 1957 upon the confession of his faith at the Mennonite Mission Church in Winnipeg. Dad married our mom, Anne Neufeld, on June 30th 1957 in McGregor MB. Dad had many different careers in his life. He was a natural gas technician, owner of Empire Floor Surfacing, Queen Anne cookware salesperson, dairy and hog farmer, but for the past 40+ years he has become well known as a cattle buyer through his company South East Livestock. He had a few hobbies which included work, work, more work and of course horses. He also enjoyed table games, watching Toronto Blue Jays with his wife, playing darts and many more activities. Dad was a man of integrity, wisdom, determination, strength, compassion, and generosity. It was evident in everything he did. We are blessed and thankful we had a husband and father such as him, and we cherished every moment we had with such a great man. Funeral service will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Southland Community Church in Steinbach, MB.
