Obituary of Edmund H. Neufeld
Peacefully at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, Steinbach, on Saturday, September 6th, 2008, Edmund (Ed) H. Neufeld passed into eternity to sit along side his personal Savior Jesus Christ.
Ed was born near Niverville on December 8th, 1911. He was raised throughout southern Manitoba, moving frequently with his family. As a young man he finally settled in Chortitz (now Randolph) and will be fondly remembered throughout the Randolph, Mitchell and Kleefeld region as a partner with his brother Henry in the Neufeld Garage in Chortitz. A remarkable enterprise, the Neufeld Garage was the area’s local Oliver farm machinery dealer, the district Nash car dealership and the most extraordinary farm machinery and vehicle repair depot in the region. The Neufeld brothers were well known in the vicinity for fair deals and noteworthy repairs. In 1960 Ed sold his shares in the Neufeld Garage to Henry and commenced grain farming, which became his passion for over 40 years.
Ed is survived by daughters Dorinda Merritt (Claude) and Elizabeth Neufeld, brothers Jake (Margaretha), Peter (Tina), sisters Helen Wiebe and Mary Blatz, and sister-in-law Jessie Neufeld along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret in 2001, infant son John, brothers John, Abe, and Henry, and sister Katherina Neufeld.
