We, as family, in great sadness announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Dad passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Concordia Hospital, Winnipeg. Dad was born June 9, 1929 to Peter F. and Mary Pries in the R.M. of Hanover. He married our mother (Tina) on July 28, 1951. He is survived by his loving wife, Tina (of 57 years of marriage); children: Linda (Peter), Leona (Ken), Leonard (Miranda), Larry (Wilma), Luella (Gord), Laura (Rick), Monty (Maureen); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brothers: Jake, John (Edna), sisters: Mary (Dick), Agatha, Helen (Cornie), sister-in-law Agatha, brother-in-law Abe (Laverna) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Joanne, great-grandson Jordan, his parents Peter F. and Mary Pries, and parents-in-law Peter B. and Agatha Wiebe, brother Bill; as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. There was nothing Dad enjoyed more than having his family around him. His family meant the world to him and he meant the world to us. We, as family, are so thankful to have had a loving father like he was. We will miss him dearly, but we also visualize Dad experiencing renewed health and release from pain as he enters his home in heaven safe in the arms of Jesus. Viewing will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service for Peter W. Pries will be held Monday, September 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover Street, Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery. We express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. A. Bissonette and the many health care staff for the care that was given to our Dad.
