Obituary of Domenico Torcutti
It is with sadness that our husband, father, and grandfather, Domenico Torcutti, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ste. Anne Hospital, with his family at his side.
Domenico was born in Udine, Italy, in 1934. Then in his later teens, he went to work in Piemonte, and from there a cousin called him to go work in the mines in France and then Belgium. In 1961 he came to B.C., Canada, where he had family. He worked on the railroad and then came to Thompson, MB. After an accident in the mine, he came to Winnipeg, where he met his wife Florence Balcaen. They were married in 1965 and had two children. He lived in La Broquerie, farming and working in construction. He retired at 60. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, cooking, grandkids and traveling.
Domenico Antonio Torcutti survived by his wife Florence of 43 years, his children - Roberto Torcutti, Marina Torcutti-Friesen, his son-in-law Ed Friesen, his grandsons Dante, Darcy, Dylan, Dawson, two sisters Marcella Berra and Alida Monai from Prince George, BC, sister-in-law Nilda Torcutti from Italy and his two nephews Massimo and Davide Torcutti. Also surviving him are: Lina, Hermine, Florence, Annette and Father Louis Vielfaure and the Balcaen family Fernand, Lina, Berthe, Hubert, Louis, Jean, Maurice, Yvette, Jules, Claude, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Pietro and his mother Maria Assunta and his two brothers, Aniceto and Natalino Torcutti, in-laws Guy, Louise, Aime, Antonio and Albert (Vielfaure) Madeleine and Joseph Balcaen.
The memorial service will take place Friday, October 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church, La Broquerie, with interment at the parish cemetery.
