After a lengthy battle with cancer Peter Reimer, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2011 at 12:06 pm at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach with his children at his side. Dad was born on Sept 18, 1949 to John and Margaret Reimer near Grunthal, MB. Dad is survived by three children, Randy, Michael and Tracey and two grandchildren: Cody and Denver. He is survived by his parents, John and Margaret Reimer, two brothers: Johnny (Martha), Willy (Dianne), five sisters, Anne (Henry), Susie (Dave), Margaret, Trudy (Herman), Shirley (Jodey) and many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his wife Anne. Dad was baptized on June 6, 1971 in the Chortizer Church in Grunthal, Mb. He met Annie Peters at Fairacre Farms and they were married on September 25, 1971. He began his working life at Fairacre Farns at age 16. After several years he moved to roadside Poultry and worked for Leonard Friesen. Dad tried his hand at various jobs such as the Grunthal feedmill, hog farming and arena maintenance. About 20 years ago Dad found his passion in trucking which he continued until he was no longer able to work. Dad loved trucking and he made many friends on his trips. Dad enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, never missing a hockey game. He loved camping with friends and family, going to Thief River and our annual family camping to Reddens in Kenora, Ontario. Dad was a part of the "scooter Posse". We often bugged him about that; he had many good times on his scooter. Dad was a loyal fan of the Blue Bombers, and enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing Kanasta. Dad was in good health till November of 2008. He was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. He underwent many procedures including a stem cell transplant. Dad’s kidneys failed in November of 2010 and he was put on kidney dialysis. He took his last dialysis on April 20, 2011. The family wishes to thank Dr. Addy, Jennifer and Zemina at Cancer Care HSC for their compassion and integrity, as well as Dr. Duerksen and Dr. Reimer, and the Bethesda nursing staff for Dads excellent care. The funeral service for Peter Reimer will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the Grunthal Bergthaler Mennonite Church, Grunthal, with interment at the Grunthal Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, and at the church prior to the service.
