Esther passed away peacefully Sunday, May 8th, 2011, after a very brief stay at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach at the age of 82 years. Esther was predeceased by her husband Wayne Johnson and two brothers. She is survived by her son Edward and her two grandchildren, Jenna and Gary. She is also survived by two sisters, four brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Esther was born on May 27, 1928 in Niverville, MB. Esther’s early years prepared her well for life on the farm in Stettler, AB where she not only raised livestock but also managed to provide 5-star meals unheard of in a farm setting. After Esther’s husband passed away she returned to Steinbach to reunite with her brothers and sisters and as well with many childhood friends. Her time in Steinbach allowed her to get more deeply involved with her church activities and provide her with good support in a community that shared her faith. She also enjoyed visits with her two grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Over the decades Esther has touched many lives and she will be remembered and missed by all. The funeral service for Esther Johnson will be held Friday, May 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB, with viewing prior to the service.
