Justina Funk passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Monday evening, November 17, 2008. She was born May 18, 1920 to Rev. Peter S. and Justina Wiebe, third of 11 children. Left to cherish fond memories are her children Mary (Ron) Borkowsky, Dennis (Marj) Funk, Edna (Les) Ewacha. Grandma and Oma will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially for her homemade noodle soup. She also leaves to mourn her passing two sisters, one brother-in-law and five sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years George A. T. Funk Justina was baptized June 1, 1941 in Chortitz (Randolph) by her father P.S. Wiebe. George and Justina (Jessie) farmed in the New Bothwell area until they moved to Steinbach in 2000. We can’t express our appreciation and gratitude enough for all the help and kindness we received from the staff and doctors at Bethesda Hospital, Palliative Care, Home Care, St Boniface Hospital staff and everybody who had a share in making mom comfortable. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover, Steinbach on Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Randolph Cemetery.
