Obituary of Rosalia Krentz

With family by her side, on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Bethesda Place PCH in Steinbach, Rosalia (Rosie) Krentz (nee Fender) passed away peacefully to enter her heavenly home. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gordon (Evelyn), Iris (Gordon) Pylypjuk, Darlene (Chris) Turner, Pearl (Jarvis) Wintoniw, Robert (Jody), 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and 4 sisters-in-law. Rosalia was predeceased by her first husband, Reinhold Krentz (1983), her 2nd husband William (Bill) Krentz (2001); great-grandchild, Adam Wintoniw in infancy; 2 sons-in-law Leonard Anderson and Gerald Schmidtke; her parents, August and Pauline Fender; brothers — Emmanuel and Reinhold Fender; three sisters — Pauline Grienke, Annie Grienke and Alvina Betzold; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. Rosalia was born in Steinbach, MB on November 8, 1923 as the youngest child and grew up in the Friedensfeld area. She was wed to Reinhold Krentz at “sweet 16” and together they farmed on the same property that she grew up on, until 1970; at which time they moved to Steinbach for 2 short years. Realizing they enjoyed the country life, they moved back to the farm in Pansy, MB where they lived until Reinhold died. Rosie then moved back to Steinbach and after being a widow for 10 years she married William (Bill) Krentz. Due to illness, Mom’s home was at Bethesda Place for the last six years. Family was important to her, not only did she look after her parents, while raising her children, but she always had time for the grandchildren and helping out her grown children whenever the need arose. Cooking was Rosie’s greatest gift. She always made sure her family was well fed as they were growing up, and there was always a meal to be had whenever anyone popped into her house. Rosie also used these abilities working as a cook at Bethesda Hospital and at the Friedensfeld Community Centre. Besides cooking and gardening, her sewing abilities shone through children’s and grandchildren’s clothes and the many quilts she made. Rosie loved her fishing trips and the many card games with family and friends. Throughout her life she knew God’s love and displayed this in her love and service to others. A very special thank you to all the staff at Bethesda Place; for the love and care that was given to our Mother. The Funeral Service for Rosalia Krentz will be held Thursday, November 27 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St in Steinbach and Viewing Service on Wednesday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, Steinbach. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church. We know you rest in God’s peace, we love you Mom and Grandmother. You have left us with beautiful memories.
