Jacob Frank Wiens, age 96, of Winnipeg, formerly of Glenlea, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2009, surrounded by his family. Dad was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Rogalsky). He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Edward (Trudy); daughter Susan (Henry Bergmann); son Ernie (Charlotte); daughter Hildie (Dave Regehr); and daughter, Laura (Eric Unger); with 31 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He is survived by five brothers, two sisters and their families. Dad was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. His love of the land on which he raised his family, his faith in God, and his commitment to the church were evident throughout his life. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service for Jacob F. Wiens will be held Tuesday, January 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the Glenlea Mennonite Church, with interment to follow at the Glenlea cemetery. The family extends its deepest gratitude for the faithful and loving service provided to Jacob by the staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home, and the staff and Home Care workers at Lindenwood Manor.
