It gives us great sorrow to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Ike Friesen at the age of 89. Ike will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Tina, his children Bob (Judy), Art (Deb), Len (Jean), Albert (Cindy), Marge (John) Harder, Edward (Rose) Wiens, Dianne (Danny) Funk, Peter (Audrey) Wiens. He also leaves to mourn his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Isaac was predeceased by his first wife, Susan, second wife Nettie Friesen, his sisters, Tina, Agatha, Sally, brother Bill, sons Raymond and Jack. Throughout his life, Ike made it a goal never to leave a room without words of encouragement for everyone he met. Even towards the end, he touched the lives and hearts of all who came to visit, often giving them comfort and encouragement. Ike’s love of the Lord was a source of strength for him through his life and especially in his final days. Ike was an avid outdoorsman who passed on his love of the outdoors and hunting to his sons and grandsons. He participated in family hunts right up until last year. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. Our heartfelt gratitude for their care and compassion given by nurses Ernesto and Tracy, and Dr. Ilchyna. “You fought so hard to stay, but when we saw you peaceful and free from pain, we could not wish you back to suffer all that again. We will love you forever Pops, Grandpa.” The celebration of life for Ike Friesen will be held Friday, June 3, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach, with interment at Grunthal Cemetery. Viewing will be held Thursday, June 2, at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel.
