Obituary of Jacob Froese

Peacefully and with dignity, surrounded by his family, Jake Froese completed his life journey on January 25, 2009 at the age of 79 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 20 years, Nettie and her children, Rick and Bonny Friesen, Marilyn and Kevin Pankratz, Reg and Pauline Friesen, seven grandchildren as well as two sisters, Sadie Friesen (John), Betty Klassen and two brothers Ernie Froese (Nora), Rudi Froese (Sandi) and sister-in-law Tina Froese. Jake was predeceased by his first wife Emma Froese, his parents John and Katherine Froese, his brother John Froese, his step-son Lloyd Friesen and brother-in-law Menno Klassen. Jake lived a full life and enjoyed all the time he was given to the fullest. He was born on November 11, 1929 in Moscow, Russia as his family waited in transit to come to Canada. Within the year his family landed in St. John’s, New Brunswick and them came to settle in Niverville, Manitoba where Jake grew up. Jake made friends everywhere he went, whether it was his workplace, spending holidays in Florida, camping at Lilac, going for coffee at Salisbury House and Tim Horton’s, golfing, or just taking walks around the mall or his neighborhood. Everywhere you went you would run into someone who knew Jake and couldn’t help but enjoy his friendly conversation or teasing. In his younger years he loved to play hockey, baseball or go snowmobiling. Later in his life he became an avid golfer accomplishing a hole in one, not just once but twice. His love of sports was also obvious as he would drive out to Steinbach, Selkirk and Niverville to watch his grandchildren play hockey and volleyball. Jake was a joker and loved to tease young and old alike. He had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh. He was a kind, compassionate, gentle man. He was a loving husband, a doting grandfather and a great friend. He will be deeply missed. Viewing will be held at the Fourth Avenue Bible Church, 62 - 4th Ave South, Niverville on Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. Coffee reception to follow. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fourth Avenue Bible Church, Niverville with interment at Niverville Heritage Cemetery.
