Helen Nickel was born to Jacob and Aganetha Nickel on September 20, 1940 in Crooked River, Saskatchewan. She passed away February 17, 2009 at 12:30 a.m. at the Menno Home for the Aged in Grunthal at the age of 68 years, four months and 28 days. Helen was baptized upon the confession of her faith on June 2, 1962 in the Reinland Mennonite Church in Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, one brother, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, two great nephews. She leaves to mourn her memory, five brothers, John and Ruth (Peter) Nickel, Peter and Sarah (Rempel) Nickel, Neil and Ann (Brown) Nickel, Jake Nickel and Bill and Mary (Thiessen) Nickel; five sisters, Agnes Wieler, Lisa (James) Fehr, Eva Gerbrandt, Mary (Peter) Elias, Martha (Cornie) Thiessen, as well as many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with at devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Reinland Mennonite Church, Grunthal, MB with interment at the church cemetery.
