Obituary of Marina Ann Froese

On the morning of Tuesday, May 29, 2007, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away at home in Steinbach, Manitoba. She shared her characteristic humour and wisdom to the very end. Marina was predeceased by her brother Johnnie, father Klaas, sister Myrtle (Gordon Penner), brother Wilmer, mother Katherine, and brother Melvin. She is survived by her husband John; brother Vernon (Martha), sister Bertha (Jim) Gunson, and sister Margery (Neil) Koop; sisters-in-law Anne and Marie; children Kirk (Tara), Tammy (Earl) Bargen, and Chad (Gloria); as well as grandchildren Alyssa, Michelle, and Elle. She was born Marina Ann Penner on October 6, 1947, and lived a vibrant childhood on a small farm just north of Steinbach. She married John Albert Froese on September 23, 1967, and they spent most of their marriage living on that same farm. Marina loved gardening, keeping two large gardens full of flowers and vegetables as long as she had energy. Her skill as a seamstress was demonstrated in sewing all three wedding dresses when her children married. She also loved reading, devouring whole volumes on various issues. In her later years, Marina blessed many others as Minister of Congregational Care at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Home on Thursday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 1 at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, with interment at the Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to My People International, PO Box 295, Evansburg, AB T0E 0T0. www.mypeoplecanada.com
