Obituary of Peter Dyck

On Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the age of 75, Peter P. Dyck went to be with his Lord. Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Garry and Rod, one daughter, Cindi and her husband Daryl, three grandchildren, Kyla, Gavin and Abby, and his ex-wife Lydia. He was predeceased by his mom and dad, his parents-in-law, two brothers, three brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law. Playing the accordion was a joy for Peter, either for his own pleasure or for the enjoyment of others. What a gift he had in sharing his music to encourage others. Fishing was his other favourite pastime, spending many long hours on his boat. He loved the outdoors. A minor stroke in June 2002 was the start of a gradual deterioration in his health. In spring of 2005, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which slowly took its toll on his body and mind. By August of 2005, he required the full time care of a nursing home and spent seven months at the Menno Home in Grunthal. The last three years he was lovingly cared for by the staff at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB on Wednesday, March 11 at7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 McKenzie Ave, Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, P.O. Box 841 Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2R3 The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the wonderful care given by the nurses and staff at the Rest Haven. Your many kind words and gestures will not be forgotten.
