ANNA FRIESEN On Tuesday, March 17, 2009, Mom passed away at the age of 94 at Bethesda Place in Steinbach. She was born on March 25, 1914. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Martin P. Friesen in 1971, her son, Ernie in l970, seven sisters and four brothers. In her younger years gardening and sewing were her favorite pastimes. She made many wonderful outfits for her growing family. We always looked forward to enjoying her homemade soups and brown bread. As she got older, and couldn’t physically work as hard as she used to, she spent her time reading and knitting. She blessed many people with the slippers she created. Her interest in people showed by the many articles she read and shared with us when we visited her. Getting together with family and friends was something Mom loved to do, and often invited them to go out to eat with her. Mom, in her last three years, was lovingly cared for by the staff at Bethesda Place Personal Care Home in Steinbach. Left to mourn her passing are her four children Peter (Violet) of Lac Du Bonnet, Menno of Steinbach, Linda (Menno) Barkman of Blumenort, Paul (Margaret) of Steinbach; 11 grandchildren: Wayne, Brian (Briggett), Mark, Darrel (Chantal), Darcia (Wes), Tanya (Matt), David (Debbie), Maxine (Kevin), Cameron, Ron, Jocelyn (Kyle), many great grandchildren, one brother, Abram Reimer (Margaret), four brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Friday, March 20th at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service in Mom’s honor will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blumenort Evangelical Mennonite Church, with interment at the Blumenort Cemetery. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the wonderful care given by the nurses and staff at Bethesda Place. Your many words of kindness and care will not be forgotten.
