Obituary of Elmer John Wohlgemuth

Elmer Wohlgemuth, aged 69 years, of Landmark, MB passed away April 2, 2009. After a courageous battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at Bethesda Hospital. He is survived by his children, two daughters, Jackie (Elmer) Harder, Laurie (Peter) Penner; two sons, Terry (Jackie) and Tim Wohlgemuth; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, three brothers; his second wife Rose and children. He was predeceased by his first wife, Tina (nee Wiebe); his parents Peter P. and Magdalena (nee Sobering) Wohlgemuth; two sisters and two brothers. Dad was born in Steinbach, MB Aug 11,1939. Dad married his first wife June 2, 1962 and together they spent a wonderful 44 years. Dad’s main employment was at Landmark Feeds as mill operator, maintenance and truck driver. He spent some years working for Landmark Agro, spraying fertilizer and driving truck. He drove truck for other companies as well as operated heavy equipment in road construction. Dad also devoted 27 years of faithful and dedicated service to the RM of Tache Fire Dept. One of Dad’s greatest enjoyments was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many fond memories will be remembered of camping, woodworking, snowmobiling and family barbeques, but the fondest memories are of going to Mom and Dads for traditional Sunday brunch, which included pancakes and bacon. We will miss you, Dad. Special thanks to Dr. Reimer and all the nurses at Cancer Care and Bethesda Hospital. Very special thanks to Pastor Leonard and Betty Barkman. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with at devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Rose Evangelical Mennonite Church in Landmark with interment in the church cemetery.
