Gertrude Reimer, nee Schultz, aged 87 years, passed away after a short illness at Bethesda Hospital on April 2, 2009. She leaves to cherish her memory her four daughters: Bertha (James) Friesen, Anne (Emile) DuBois, Maria Unrau, Ruth (Gary) Buhler as well as 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, one sister Ida Israel of B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter F. Reimer in Nov. 2004, son Fred in Dec. 1978, son Paul in 1960 and grandson Paul in 1972. She was also predeceased by her parents Peter and Eva Schultz and her two brothers, Fred and Henry. Mom was born in Gouldtown, Saskatchewan on Oct. 12, 1921 and married Peter F. Reimer on June 8, 1948. Mom and Dad lived most of their married life in Grunthal; then retired to Kleefeld, and eventually to Steinbach. After Dad passed away, Mom moved to Fernwood Place where she resided until her passing. She enjoyed knitting for the MCC and attending programs that were provided by Fernwood. Her greatest joy was when family came to visit, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom will be greatly missed by us all. The family would like to thank the Main Floor nursing staff for the tender care provided in last few days of her life. Also many thanks to Dr. Kaethler for his gentle kindness in caring for Mom all these years. The family would also like to thank all the relatives and friends for their prayers and well wishes. There will be a viewing at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will held Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church with burial at the church cemetery.
