Ronald Mokelkie of Wpg, Manitoba posted a condolence
Saturday, September 20, 2014
Sorrowful is the passing of my dear humorous hard working uncle in forestry work. We are all needed in life, no matter what our occupation for rich or poorer. His visits to our home while I was young was a treat, and I always remember his strength from felling trees, and when a leather belt was strapped around his chest, he'd inhale deep and bust that belt right off - so very strong. But yet, a mild mannered , cheerful and pragmatic man. He was a great uncle and won't be forgotten. Look down from the heavens, oh Lord, touch the earth and remember dear Wilfred Mantey - a man of nature and a man who helped along with his family bring Steinbach to the great "city" however prosperous it is. God Bless you Wilfred, you will not be forsaken.

I am Kenneth, one the son's of Albert Mantey. My brother Gordon and I are sorry to hear about our uncle's passing.
I only met him once. Our meeting went well. He showed me he had a real good sense of humour. I'm told I do too.
The apple does not fall far from the tree.
