Obituary of Mathilda Mehling
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the angels came and took mom home to heaven to be reunited with Ferdinand, her husband of 51 years.
Mathilda Mehling (nee Krentz) was born January 14, 1915. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Friedensfeld. On November 21 she married Ferdinand Mehling. They made their home in Bristol in the RM of Hanover.
They were blessed with a family of four sons and two daughters; Norman (Glorian), Mel (Joyce), Dennis (Phyllis), Shirley (Ernie), Lorne (Angie), and Brenda. She had 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by one sister, Elsie Biedler, brother Rudolf (Lena) and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Krentz. She was predeceased by her husband Ferdinand on Nevember 12, 1985, one sister, Ida Fender and one brother, Art Krentz, brothers-in-law Emmanuel Fender and Edward Biedler. She was predeceased by her parents Christof and Emilie Krentz.
Mom was blessed with a host of good friends and a team of extraordinary home care workers for whom the family is forever grateful. She also got a lot of special care by a dear friend Cindy Hayman.
The funeral will be held Thursday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Steinbach. A viewing service will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church on Wednesday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. There will also be viewing prior to the funeral. Interment at St Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Hwy 12 S.
