Obituary of Cornie Martens

A Thank You On Behalf Of The Recently Deceased Cornie Martens. I thank you Lord for my wonderful wife, beautiful children and amazing grandchildren. I thank you for family and good friends. I thank you for the many blessings you’ve provided me through a very happy life. I thank you for the rich soil you gave us to grow our crops and nurture our family. I thank you for calling me to your side. You comforted me and lulled me to sleep until I awoke in your arms. Cornie Martens, son of Jacob and Mary Martens, answered the Lord’s call Thursday, April 16th, 2009 at St. Anne’s Hospital surrounded by his family and loved ones. He leaves his wife Susana (nee Rempel) of 37 years; his children Joseph (Jacqueline), Susan/Trina (Jason Tilling), Daniel (Elizabeth), and Joshua (Amanda); three grandchildren Savannah, Alexander, and Carter; one brother Henry (Joan) Martens, two sisters Mary (Peter) Doerksen and Sarah (Dave) Klassen and two sisters-in-law Gail (Merv) Dzuba and Jessie Martens; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Tuesday, April 21 at 7:00 pm. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery,.
