Martin Peter Klassen passed away May 21, 2009 at the age of 74 years at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 16½ years, Jennie; his two sons Curtis Klassen (Nicole Sibling) of Vernon, BC and Martin Allen Klassen (Sari Paananen) of Vancouver, BC, one daughter, Wanda Klassen (Andy Rac) of Winnipeg, four stepsons, Wayne, John, Michael and Chris Prymych; four grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn him are one brother and four sisters. Martin was the youngest of 16 children born to Peter and Katherine Klassen. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Ruth (nee Schellenberg) and one grandson Justin Klassen; six brothers, four sisters, some nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Martin and his wife would like to thank everyone who helped out in this difficult time to make things easier, especially Martin’s nephew John Hildebrand and Pastor Ed Wiebe who came almost every day and was a school friend of Martin’s. They would also like to thank Dr. Krahn and the staff at Bethesda Hospital for the care they provided, palliative care staff and other friends for their help. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow.
