Obituary of William K. Reimer
On June 6, 2009, at home in his sleep, William K. (Bill) Reimer, age 93, went to be with the Lord.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Edna, of 69 years, five children: Gerald (Mavis), Carol Anne (Steve) Griffith, Marilyn (Peter) Goertzen, Billy (Carey), and Eleanor, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
He is survived by one brother, John (Leona), four sisters, Kay Jones, Martha Schellenberg, Linda Tremere, and Elma (Albert) Wiebe.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Myron, four brothers, and four sisters.
Dad was born in Steinbach on January 4, 1916. He grew up on a farm in Clearspring, where he also received his education. He began working at C. T. Loewen and Sons when he was still a teenager and remained with the company until he retired at age 65.
He accepted the Lord at age 20 and married Edna Loewen in 1940. During the first years of their marriage he worked in a bush camp near Roblin, MB. Throughout his working years, Dad devoted his life to his family and his church.
He was a founding member of the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church where he served as the treasurer and a board member for many years. In his retirement years he painted houses and drove cars for local dealerships.
Dad enjoyed traveling, and together with Mom, visited Europe, Ethiopia, Japan, Hong Kong and the Philippines. He was always an encouragement to his children, helping them in practical ways and praying for them daily. Above all, he loved and served his Lord quietly and faithfully. We know he has heard Jesus say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
