Obituary of Diedrich D. Wiebe

On Saturday, June 13, 2009, Pastor Diedrich D. Wiebe went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 70. He passed away in the loving arms of his sweetheart, with his family at his side. He was born to Diedrich P. and Helena Wiebe on April 6, 1939 at St. Boniface, MB. Dad faithfully served the Lord as a minister and bishop in the Chortizer Mennonite Conference for many years. His passion for his Savior was evident to us as a family and to the many people he interacted with and ministered to. We, his children and grandchildren, together with his beloved wife, will miss him deeply. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Margaret of Steinbach, five sons; Larry (Lori) of Niverville, Warren (Haley) of Winnipeg, Glen (Brenda) of New Bothwell, Paul (Rachel) of Niverville, Trevor (Mona) of New Bothwell and one daughter, Melissa (Walter) Wiens of New Bothwell.; three stepdaughters, Shirley (Daryl) Martens and Kimberly (Tony) Trafford of Abbotsford, BC, Connie (Zac) Rattana of Winnipeg; two stepsons, Stanley Harder and Stacey Harder of Winnipeg; 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen (Henry) Poetker and Anne (Rick) Neufeld; four brothers, Peter (Mary), Abe, John (Heather) and Jake (Lorraine); and brother-in-law Ben (Kathy) Loewen. Also surviving him are many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his first wife Helen (nee Falk) in 2003, his parents, one sister Susie, and his parents-in-law, Peter and Katherina Falk. We, the family, express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Krahn and the staff at Bethesda Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for the compassionate care given to Dad. Thanks also to our families and friends for their loving encouragement, support and prayers. We also thank Pastor Sam Doerksen and the staff at Birchwood Funeral Chapel for their helpful support. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover, Steinbach with interment at the Silberfeld CMC Cemetery. If friends so desire donations may be made to C. M. C. Missions, Box 968; Steinbach, MB R5G 1M7
