Obituary of Bertha Neufeld
Bertha was born to John K and Margaretha (Penner) Plett on May 3, 1931.
She was the youngest of twenty one children. She grew up on a farm in
the area of Prairie Rose and went to school in the Willowridge School.
She went to be with her Lord on June 27th at 11:00 am and lived 78 years
and 55 days. She was a prayer warrior which now will be missed by many.
She was a hard worker doing housework in Winnipeg as a girl and later
after the children were grown up.
She was baptized in the Prairie Rose Church by Rev Henry Reimer and
transferred her membership to Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Church
when her husband took a teaching job in Steinbach.
She married George Neufeld on July 5, 1952 sharing 57 years of joy and
sorrow. She is survived by Donald (Karen), Christopher (Pearl), Valerie
(Jerry Penner), and Kelly. She leaves 15 grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by nine brothers and seven sisters.
Her favorite Bible verse was Ephesians 3:20, “Now to Him who by the
power at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all that we
ask or think, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all
generations for ever and ever”.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main Street, Steinbach, MB, with interment at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rest Haven Foundation (Haven Group) 177 Woodhaven Ave, Steinbach, MB, R5G 1K7 or to the charity of your choice.
