Obituary of Ronald Mankey

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dad passed away on Sunday July 5th 2009 at the age of 60, at St. Pierre Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Sally of 39 years, one son Blake, two daughters Brenda and Twyla, two sons-in-law Clarence and Gil; six grandchildren Brittany, Shawn, Kayla, Natasha, Brooklyn and Casey; two brothers Norman and Goerge; two sisters Emily and Marry-ann. He was predeceased by his parents Emil and Helen Mankey. Dad spent his earlier years helping his father with the family buisness, Mankey Water Well Drilling until 1971. He then began working for Barkman Plumbing and Heating for the following 11 years. He worked all over Manitoba from remote locations to right at home. In 1982 Dad began working for Friesen Drillers on the oil rigs in western Manitoba. After 3 years he switched to water wells until 1997. From 2001 until 2008 Dad ran his own part time business servicing water wells. Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with mom, us kids, his grandchildren and friends. Dispite being diagnosed with terminal cancer, Dad and Mom spent the best summer ever at the lake, camping and doing a lot of fishing in his new boat. He was proud to take family and friends fishing, then cleaning and frying the fish for everyone to enjoy. Dad fried the best fish ever.
