Obituary of Dora MacNeil

Mac Neil, Dora - 76, Boylston, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord at the Guysborough Memorial Hospital on Sunday, June 3, 2007. Born in Steinbach, MB. She was a daughter of the late Peter and Maria (Ginter) Unger. Dora was a member of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Assemblies. She is survived by stepdaughter, Janice (Bill), stepsons Mark and Gary, step-grandchildren, sisters; Annie (Frank), Elizabeth, Mary, Eva (John), Helen (Homer), Elma (David), Alvina (Cornie), Martha (George), brother; Ben (Erna), brother- in-law, Cornie, and many nieces and nephews. Dora was a special “Grandma” to Ashley and was loved dearly by the people close to her. She was predeceased by husband John, sister Sara, a brother in infancy and stepson Rodney. Dora was a talented lady, housekeeping, and baker and spent 16 years working in the Craigwood Home for delinquent boys. In 1977 she married husband John and they went into the ministry together working in Coldwater, ON, Campbellton, NB, Martins Point,NS and then onto Boylston. After her husband passed away, she continued in the minstry until a full time pastor took over. She loved to quilt and travel. The highlights of her travels were the missionary trip to Eastern Europe and her trips to Israel. Dora took great pleasure in helping people, whether it was visiting people in the hospital, taking them to appointments, or shopping. She enjoyed baking and sharing it with her friends. Visitation was held Thursday, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Friday, June 8 at Guysborough Baptist Church, Guysborough, with Pastor Robert Innes officiating. Burial in Manchester Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dora may be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital or Ministry to Russia and Eastern Europe (MREE). A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Senior Centre, Mitchell, Manitoba.
