Quietly, at the Grace Hospital, after a brief illness, Emily Winnifred Annie Nisely of Greenridge, Manitoba passed on July 31, 2009 at the age of 95 years. Winnie was born to Fred and Emily Hamblin on December 26, 1913 in Woodmore, MB. Winnie spent her youth working with her family on the farm. She loved playing softball and riding horses. In October 1936, she married “the only man in the world”, George W. Nisely. They farmed in Greenridge all of their lives, with Winnie devoting her life to her family, raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed helping in the farm activities while she was able and found pleasure tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved curling for many years and was a keen spectator for anything her kids were in. She was a lifelong member of the Womens’ Institute and was always community minded. Winnie could always find a few minutes for a game of crib. Winnie was predeceased by husband George in 1971, son Ian in 2008, brothers Eddie and Lloyd, sisters-in-law Martha and Kaye, brother-in-law Ralph Calder. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by daughter Hazel (Aime) Carriere, grandson Gerald Carriere daughter Laurel (Jules) Freis and great-grandchildren Dale (Daniela), Cory, Dylan and Harley, as well as brother, Tommy, sister lrene Calder, and sister-in-law Dorothy Hamblin and all of their families. A celebration of Winnie’s life will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenridge United Church.
