On Wednesday, August 5, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer it pleased the Lord to take our dear father, grandfather and great grandfather home. John was born June 18, 1925 and married the love of his life Susan Schroeder September 14, 1947. Left to cherish his memory are his children Brian (Chandra), Martha (John Reimer), Esther, Kenneth (Anne), Sharon (Raymond Mueller), John (Lise), Henry (Kim), Phillip (Margaret) and daughter-in-law Linda. He will also be missed by his 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. John had a full life. He had an unwavering faith and enjoyed his involvement in the seniors group of the Word of Life Church. John lived in Grunthal for 40 years and was active in local politics; first as Mayor of Grunthal, as councilor of Ward 5 in the Municipality of Hanover and on various local committees and boards. He was predeceased by his wife Susanna, his parents Dietrich and Elizabeth Schroeder, his son Leslie, four grandsons in infancy and his siblings Maria Remple, David, Henry, Dietrich and Philip. The funeral service for John will be held Sunday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Church, 233- 3rd St. S. Niverville, MB. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Saturday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. Interment at Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville.
